Cognitive processes underlying speeded visual search for verbal information (words or phrases) within electronic or paper documents. I use behavioral experiments together with eyetracking and sometimes electroencephalographic ERP recordings to investigate the search processes used by typical adult participants.
Development of visual search abilities in 9 to 18 years old children. Impact of normal aging on visual search for verbal information, in a “whole-life” developmental perspective.
I use eyetracking together with image comparison tasks or paradigms of visual search for words to investigate the physiopathology of various types of obsessive-compulsive and schizophrenic patients (in collaboration with N. Jaafari, professor of adult psychiatry in Poitiers).
Applied research on how to optimize the visual ergonomics of video games and other interactive environments. The main goal is to understand how people detect and use visual information on moving, patterned backgrounds.
